Mounting Structures and Solar Equipment
People discuss panels and inverters; nobody discusses the hardware. Yet most of the faults we see in the field come not from the panel or the inverter but from a badly chosen mounting structure, cable or connector.
Structure: wind and corrosion
Thrace is one of the windiest regions in Turkey. When the mounting structure is selected, the regional wind load is calculated; for ballasted systems that calculation is mandatory.
Along the coast (Marmaraereğlisi, Şarköy, Gelibolu) salt-laden air degrades standard fasteners quickly. On that strip we use aluminium profiles and stainless (A4/316) fasteners.
The DC side is the most neglected part
The DC run from the panels to the inverter carries high voltage and is the most critical section in terms of fire risk. DC fuses, DC isolators and surge protection (SPD) must be correctly selected and correctly placed.
Mixing connector brands is a common and dangerous mistake: MC4 connectors from different manufacturers may physically mate, but they create contact resistance and heat up over time. We use connectors of a single brand.

How to choose
Roof type
Tile, sandwich panel, trapezoidal sheet or concrete — each needs different fixings.
Location
Stainless along the coast; galvanised may be sufficient inland.
Wind load
No ballasted system is installed without a regional wind calculation.
Frequently asked questions
Will my roof be drilled?
It depends on the roof type. On flat concrete roofs a ballasted system is generally used and the roof is not penetrated at all. On tile and sandwich-panel roofs the fixing points are drilled; every point is separately sealed and watertightness is checked on completion.
Is surge protection necessary?
Yes, particularly on open land and tall buildings. A direct lightning strike is rare, but the voltage spike from a nearby discharge will destroy an inverter easily. Surge protection costs a small fraction of the inverter.
